Darwin. Northern Territory

Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory and doorway Australia’s largest National Park, Kakadu. It's a low-key mixture of a frontier outpost and modern city. The Smith Street pedestrian mall defines the center of town, whose shops sell Aboriginal art and crafts, and South Sea pearls, diamonds and opals. The waterfront with its lively nightlife scene is accessable via the Esplanade or an elevated walkway.
