Learn About This Location

Hunt Valley is in Baltimore County, Maryland, just north of the city of Baltimore, along the York Road, now Maryland Route 45. The nearby Loch Raven Reservoir is an important water resource and is one of three reservoirs built to serve Baltimore.

Restrictions on Development were first put in place in the late '50s by famed architect and urban planner David A. Wallace. Along with his partner Ian L. McHarg at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Fine Arts, he planned the vision to preserve the Baltimore County valleys in the 1963 booklet A Plan for the Green Spring and Worthington Valleys.
